Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
Sumud is a non-commercial project. It doesn't have an advertising business, doesn't sell data, and doesn't run any third-party tracking or advertising scripts. This is what happens when you visit.
Analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to see, in aggregate, which pages get read. It's enabled at the network level rather than through a script that runs in your browser, and it's built specifically not to track you: it doesn't use cookies, doesn't set any persistent identifier, and doesn't fingerprint your device across visits or sites. It can't tell one of your visits from another, and it can't follow you to a different website. What it produces is aggregate numbers (how many people read a given page, roughly where from, on what kind of device), not a profile of any individual visitor.
Cookies and local storage
Sumud doesn't set any cookies. It does keep two small entries in your browser's local storage:
sumud:localeholds the language you chose (enorar) when you use the language switcher in the header or accept the language suggestion banner.sumud:locale-banner-dismissedrecords that you closed that suggestion banner with "No thanks".
The site reads them only to decide whether to show the language suggestion again. They hold no identifier, are never sent to this site's server or to anyone else, and stay on your device until you clear this site's data in your browser.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare Workers. As with any web host, Cloudflare's network necessarily processes standard connection data (your IP address, browser user agent, and similar) to deliver each page. Any web host does this. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for how they handle that at the infrastructure level.
Links to other sites
Sumud links out to external organisations (UN agencies, human rights groups, humanitarian charities) and to GitHub. Those sites have their own privacy practices, independent of this one. This policy only covers sumud.timothybrits.co.za itself.
Corrections and issues
If you flag a correction via GitHub Issues, that conversation happens on GitHub and is subject to GitHub's own privacy statement, not this one.
Changes
If this policy changes in any material way, this page will be updated and the date above will change with it.
